Cruises in Western Greece

Starting from the tourist port of Nafpaktos it is possible to take a one-day cruise to Macynia and a multi-day cruise to the village of Galaxidi, crossing the Gulf of Corinth.

During the cruises it is possible to visit various interesting places, such as the Rion - Antiron bridge, the villages of Monastiraki and Eratini and the island of Trizonia.

DESTINATION: Macynia shelter via Rio-Antirio Bridge

Macynia, or Makynia, or Macyneia or Makyneia, was a coastal town of ancient Aetolia at the foot of the eastern slope of Mount Taphiassus. According to Strabo it was built after the return of the Heraclidae into Peloponnesus. It stands on the west part of the village of Antirio. The small shelter may host small boats with a maximum draft of 1m. The bay offers reasonable protection to the anchored boats. The beach is sandy, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars.

monumental construction, the Rion – Antirion Bridge, which is the longest multi-span cable stayed bridge of the world with its 2,252 meters continuous and fully suspended deck, is part of the European motorway network. Passing under the bridge is a majestic experience for the sailors.

Macynia shelter

The small shelter may host small boats with a maximum draft of 1m. The bay offers reasonable protection to the anchored boats. The beach is sandy, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars.

DESTINATION: North Korinthian gulf to Galaxidi

The beauty of the Korinthian gulf is unique. Protected from the open sea, on its Northern side the Korinthian gulf offers shelter to travelers and the experience of the traditional picturesque Greek villages of the hinterland. The famous village of the captains, Galaxidi, is located in the bay of Itea and faces the oracle of Delphi. Going to Galaxidi can be combined with a multi-day trip, in which one can visit the villages along the way.

Monastiraki

Monastiraki is a peaceful village in the Region of Fokida with its own "blue lake", next to the waters of the Korinthian gulf. Its shelter offers berth to small boats with a maximum draft of 1,5m, but the bay is protected from most winds and someone can stay on anchor with fair weather report. The local restaurants will welcome you with traditional Greek cuisine and the beach club of “Blue Lake” will offer amazing moments of Greek nightlife

Trizonia

Trizonia is a small island and the only inhabited island among the islands of the Korinthian gulf. Along with the nearby islets Prasoudi, Planemi and Agios Ioannis comprise a small group of islands. There are almost no cars on the small 2,5km² island to interfere with the island’s natural Greek charm. Some hotels, some bars and a variety of Greek restaurants. The marina of Trizonia, is one of the most protected from the weather conditions in Greece. It is able to berth small boats to big yachts.

Eratini

Eratini is a small village in the southern part of the Region of Fokida. It was the municipal seat of the municipality of Tolofon. Eratini is situated on the Gulf of Korinth too and its small shelter offers berth to boats with a maximum draft of 3m. At the north part of the Eratini bay, there is a dock that can accommodate even larger vessels. The whole bay of Eratini is noted as a safe anchorage. The village offers a local market and a variety of restaurants with Greek cuisine.

Galaxidi

Galaxidi or Galaxeidi, is part of the municipality of Delphi. A village with a fell of posh, tradition and naval history, the picturesque pride and joy of the southern coasts of the Region of Fokida. Brave seamen used to sail around the Mediterranean Sea to seek refuge in the two natural ports of the little town, Agora and Chirolakas. The naval and the folklore museums bear witness to the history of Galaxidi. It has many popular attractions, including Maritime Museum & Archaeological Collection, O Tafos tou Lokrou (Mythical king). Plenty of hotels, bars and restaurants, offer high level services to the visitors. The old port was renovated some years ago, and may now safely berth aside the local fishing boats, sailing boats and big yachts.
